JYC ~ 5th and 6th

With hubby out on his works Christmas do tonight I have taken over the lounge this evening and spread my stash out to enjoy making a couple more pages for my Christmas Journal. Advent Calendar is the topic for 5th December. Hannah loves this year's calendar, a High School Musical one and loves opening a door each morning. I couldn't decide which photo to use so used them both, putting one inside the door!!

I decided not to folow Shimelle's prompt for the 6th as we put our tree up up on Sunday so thought I would do my page on that instead.

Thanks for looking!

Two More...

Two more pages for my Christmas Journal.....3rd December is all about cards and I did this from the angle that H received her first cards from her classmates on 1st December and has been bringing 2 or 3 home each day since. She loves opening each one and reading it out.4th December is "Perfection" and my journalling reads "My idea of a perfect Christmas is seeing your smiles and happiness"

Thanks for looking!

Christmas Journal Page 1 and 2

Just wanted to share my Christmas Journal first 2 pages.
Here's the first page for 1st December. I'm keeping my pages very simple in the hope that it will encourage me to keep up with Shimelle's prompts.
And this is 2nd December, about the weather. Journalling reads "Rain Today! And Cold! I wonder if it will snow this year?"
I have finished 3rd and 4th as well but not had chance to photograph them.

If any fellow JYC bloggers are reading, please leave a message as I'd love to see your journal too.

Today, I have been down to the town centre and managed to get lots of presents sorted so feeling quite pleased with myself that I have so many ticks on my "To Get" list!

Hoping to work on my journal again tonight!

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy December!

December already? How did that happen?!! Yesterday, the first day of December brought a cold, frosty morning and an air of excitement. As soon as she woke Hannah was raring to get up and get the first window on her advent calendar open. The countdown to Christmas officially started in our house!

Today she has her dress rehearsal for the school Christmas play, she is an angel so I was up late last night finishing off her costume.

Day off today, so I'm catching up on housework and grocery shopping and then getting myself organised for my Christmas Journal. I'm going to put all my supplies into a box and only work from that so there will be no searching through stash to find what I need. Then get my first 2 pages done!

Right...must go...lots to do!

To Journal or Not?!

I just can't decide whether to do Shimelle's Journal Your Christmas class again this year or not. I did it last year, but didn't get anywhere near finishing it. It starts on Tuesday 1st December and I have absolutely nothing organised or prepared. I would love to do it as I did enjoy what I did last year and love the thought of an album full of photos and journalling of the Christmas season.

Oh...decisions....?!

Christmas Shopping

Woohoo! I have started my Christmas Pressie shopping today! I never usually start until 1st December but this year I have decided to get organised and start earlier in the hope I will have more time in the run up to the Big Day to enjoy the season and not be running round the shops like a mad thing!
I only bought a couple of small things but it's a start.

I finished this layout a couple of days ago but have only had chance to get a photo today. Our cat, Dougal is completely black so in the summer he gets really hot and spends nearly all day in the shade, guess it's to do with his black fur absorbing the heat or something. Last Summer he suddenly popped his head out from the flower bed where he had been hiding and I got this cute photo of him.

I used My Minds Eye Wild Asparagus paper, journal spot cut with nesties, Basic Grey and Hero Arts stamps, ribbon, flowers and buttons from stash.

Hope you have had a good weekend!

When the crowds are gone

I am very lucky to be living on the south coast with miles and miles of beautiful beach right on my doorstep but I have to admit that I do prefer it at this time of year when the crowds are gone. Yesterday morning I popped down to the beach and managed to get a few photos ready for a layout I plan to do.I was down there just after 9am after the school run so not the best light but it is really only at this time of day that the beach is empty like this. Just a couple of months ago, this same stretch of beach would be packed with holiday makers!
I just had time for a 15 minute stroll and a steaming hot cup of coffee in the cafe, set me up for the day!

Thanks for looking

Time

It's been a while since my last blog, a few things seemed to take over my life for a while and there was little time for me to do the things I enjoy, like scrapping and blogging but i have plans for that to change starting from Now! :)

So much has happened since my last post....

Summer is just a distant memory... Autumn has come and almost gone...its cold, the heating is on and winter is just about here! But that means its not too long until Christmas, yay!
Hannah is loving Year 2 and in so many ways I can see she is growing up fast. This morning she got herself dressed for school completely on her own including doing up those oh so tricky shirt buttons and getting her tights on the right way round (a task in itself for a 6 year old). She is interested in different things now, like television programmes. it's not so much of C Beebies now but X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing. Her love of music grows by the day and favourites at the moment are Cheryl Cole, Alexander Burke, Sugar Babes and Leona Lewis.

But one thing has been a real hit with her lately. This little High School Musical case is never far away.

And inside is this Her Pink DS!

It was her 6th birthday present from us. We weren't sure if she would like it or not, but she loves it. It took a while for her to get the hang of it but now it's a great way for her to relax. She is still a bundle of energy and rarely stop still so the DS makes her sit and relax for a while. I know some people don't like to see children with computer games and toys like this but for Hannah it has been just what she needed for some quiet time every now and then.

Thanks for popping by!

~ School's Back! ~

I don't know about you but I think the summer holidays have flown by, H started back at school today in Year 2!! She was looking forward to it and seems to have had a good day, chatting non stop all the way home about what they did, what the teacher said, who she played with, sat next to.......and so on!!
I have been having a wonder around blogland this evening and have come to realise that I miss entering the blog challenges and blogging about everyday stuff so i've decided that I will keep my other blog just for shop related stuff and this one for more general stuff and for sharing my crafting that isn't for the shop. Although a lot of what I make is as samples for the shop or for classes I do love to craft purely for fun and enjoyment as well.
Now that the new school term has started, hopefully I will get a bit more time to craft just because I want to and to get round to some of the challenge blogs.
So with that thought I'm off to my craft area to have a play!
Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas Card!

I know its months away, but I have been making Christmas Cards this week!. I only managed to get a photo of this one before my camera batteries ran out.I stamped and heat embossed the reindeer, cut him out with scalloped circles nestie and layered it up on Bazzill bling which has been punched with Fiskars threading water border punch and gold ribbon wrapped around. Greeting stamped and heat embossed in gold. Red gel pen dots doodled around the scallops and 2 gold brads to finish off.

Hope you like!

Heatwave!

What a glorious sunny weekend we have just had, even the weather people are saying we are in the middle of a heatwave. Apart from a quick visit to our local garden centre we spent most of it in our garden so I thought I would share these pictures with you. Our cat, Dougal doesn't like the heat at all, maybe something to do with his mass of jet black fur retaining the heat so he tends to hide in the plants to cool off! I captured this picuret of him yesterday, we didn't even know he was hiding in there until he suddenly popped his head out!!

Or garden can only be described as a "project in progress" but this year it is starting to look how we want it, with lots of colour and flowers. These are our roses and lilies which are such a beautiful colour at the moment.
It's time to head off to open up my shop. Hope you manage to stay cool today.

Long time!

I can't believe how long it is since I last blogged here! Unfortunately everday life managed to keep me busier than usual and I didn't have much time for card making or scrapping but I've just got back into things the last week or two and have made a few cards and layouts which I'll try to take photos of and show you soon.

I've given my blog a new look so hopefully I'll be better at posting. Right, off for a look round blogland to see what you've all been making!

"Snow Day"

What a beautiful sight this morning! A blanket of white snow!

We only had about 1 cm but for us down here on the south coast it's a rare occassion to get a snowfall that even settles at all. By lunch time it was all gone but still it was lovely to see it this morning. I did take a couple of photos but I'm still unable to load them onto the laptop.

I'm doing quite well with my target of 52 layouts in 2009, done 3 so far and a few more in the early stages. So quite pleased with myself. I'm doing my first card making demonstration in the shop next Saturday morning, so getting a little nervous but also really looking forward to it.

Lots and lots going on in my life at the moment, although I daren't put anything here about it for fear of jinxing things. You know how it is when you say something and then it all seems to go horribly wrong and never actually happens. It's something I have dreamed about for years and years so just keeping my fingers crossed everything goes to plan.

Hope everyone is keeping warm and enjoying building snowmen!!

2009!

My first post on my blog for 2009! Happy New Year to you!

With Hannah back at school and me and Dave both back to work our lives have quickly fallen back into the normal routine, with Christmas and New Year just a memory. I'm still having problems getting the USB ports sorted out on the laptop and so frustratingly can't upload any photos to the laptop for editing & printing. Really dissappointed that this is holding up by Christmas Journal. I've managed to do just 1 layout so far and having set myself the target of 52 layouts by the end of 2009 I need to get cracking!

Hannah's class have been to the Oceanarium today on a school trip and she is exhausted so with her tucked up in bed earlier than usual, I'm planning an early dinner for me and Dave and then an evening scrapping! Yay!!

Note to self: I must try to be a better blogger in 2009! More posts and more blog hopping leaving comments on your wonderful blogs!
